12 Oct 07 - Lyon Day 1
As the train drew closer to the familiar Centre Commercial de Part Dieu, it finally struck me that I was back in Lyon - the city that made me fall in love with France, its language and culture and convinced me to do my SEP here. Met Andi at the Carrefour there and we headed to his host's house where we would be staying for the weekend. His host, Madame Maisonnet, is such a jolly and kindly old lady who was incredibly warm and welcoming! Dinner consisted of 2 Indonesian dishes that Andi and I (the able assistant haha) prepared for his host and her family. Unfortunately, the mee soto soup got soaked up by the noodles and in the end it seemed like soggy vermicelli which actually tasted pretty good and sat quite well with the French!
Mee Soto (dry) - haha and Nasi Goreng painstakingly decorated by Andi
After dinner, Madame Maisonnet gave us a little preview of a powerpoint presentation that she and her friend had made to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her hiking group, La Semelle (the sole). As she showed us the pictures taken throughout the course of these 30 years, the pride she had for the group, their accomplishments and most importantly the friendships forged, was apparent. Kinda made me want something more out of my otherwise rather routine life! Yep, something to think about!

With the whole family! They're a close bunch!
